HotelFurniture.com, Qwick Contribute To AHLA Foundation
WASHINGTON (March 25, 2021) – The American Hotel & Lodging Foundation (AHLA Foundation) today received a commitment of $45,000 from HotelFurniture.com and Qwick to invest in the Foundation’s work to educate, elevate, and empower the next generation of hotel employees.
“We are extremely grateful to HotelFurniture.com and Qwick for their generosity during this critical time as the AHLA Foundation provides programs and resources to support hotel employees and advance their careers so they are one step ahead as travel resumes,” said Rosanna Maietta, president & CEO of the AHLA Foundation. “Their support allows us to invest in our workforce, especially in light of our recent announcement to commit $5 million towards advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in the industry.”
Despite a difficult year for the hotel and lodging industry, the AHLA Foundation has focused on serving our employees and guests. The Foundation launched a COVID Relief Fund, which provided $3.5 million worth of free education resources to help more than 20,000 furloughed employees, awarded $1 million in academic scholarships, and helped advance the careers of over 5,200 individuals through the Foundation’s ongoing programs. Additionally, as part of the Foundation’s recent $5 million commitment to DE&I, the Foundation will launch a new Leadership Academy, industry resources, and a mentorship program later this year.
HotelFurniture.com and Qwick’s support will help advance the Foundation’s priorities and provide hope to thousands of hotel employees.
HotelFurniture.com has committed $20,000 to support the Foundation’s diversity, equity and inclusion initiative. The last year has propelled a great amount of innovation within the industry and refocused commitment to what matters most; the future of our industry.
“For us, it was natural to support this cause”, says Danna Dunnage, the president of HotelFurniture.com. “Companies who support diversity, equity and inclusion in all aspects of their business strategically outperform their peers. We have strived to build a team coming from diverse backgrounds, experience and personal journeys, and we want to support this spreading across our industry.”
Qwick has committed $25,000 to support the Foundation’s general career development programs and will serve as a Par sponsor of the Foundation’s Golf Classic. Jamie Baxter, CEO and Co-Founder of Qwick, will also serve as an honorary trustee on the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
“Qwick provides growth-oriented opportunities to hospitality professionals, and we’re thrilled to contribute to the commendable AHLA Foundation,” says, Jamie Baxter, Co-Founder, and CEO of Qwick. “I’m honored to serve an organization diligently working to help hotel professionals learn and thrive in the industry.”
